Lugano and Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola and Fattoria L’Amorosa

It sounds like a great plan to drive back along the picturesque coastal road of the Côte d’Azur and have lunch on the coast. Here’s a suggestion for the itinerary of your trip:

Enjoy breakfast at the Hotel Cantemerle before we continue our return journey along the Côte d’Azur coastal road. Enjoy the magnificent view of the Mediterranean Sea on your drive to Genoa.

We stop for lunch in one of the many good restaurants along the coast, where you can enjoy fresh seafood and other Mediterranean specialities.

After lunch we take the motorway towards Milan and Lugano.

Lugano is a city in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino in the south of Switzerland. The Swiss-Mediterranean cultural mix is similar to that of Lombardy in northern Italy. This mix is evident in both the architecture and the cuisine. The city lies on the northern shore of Lake Lugano, a glacial lake surrounded by mountains. The central square, Piazza della Riforma, is lined with pastel-coloured neoclassical palazzi.

In the late afternoon we arrive at the Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola, a luxurious hotel in Lugano.

Situated on the shores of Lake Lugano, this magnificent 5-star resort is a property of great charm, nestled in a private subtropical park. The impressive mansion, once owned by a noble Russian family, was converted into a hotel in 1885.

At 7pm we are taken by bus to Fattoria L’Amorosa, a countryside winery.

L’Amorosa is located between the municipality of Sementina and the municipality of Gudo and covers an area of about 15 hectares, four of which are used for vineyards and two for olive groves, overlooking the magnificent terrace of the restaurant.
